Kataloge.

      1. Ursula Hübner*: Opportunities of Recommendation Based Interprofessional Courses in Health Informatics
Abstract: Educational recommendations are useful guidelines to help develop courses and entire programmes. They can contribute defining priorities in terms of learning goals and contents. Due to their nature as instruments giving generic rather than specific statements they have to be customised in order to become useful and practiable. The eHealth4all@eu consortium therefore developed a socalled educational pipeline to arrive at specific courses starting with the TIGER Recommendations Framework 2.0. This talk will present the pipeline and its output. Furthermore, the eHealth4all courses will be analysed in a reverse engineering manner to investigate their compliance with the latest version of the Educational Recommendations of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).
*Professor of Medical and Health Informatics and Quantitative Methods at the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück
      2. Kaija Saranto*: Experiences and success factors of implementing the IMIA Recommendations in a certified master program
Abstract: The Health and Human Services Informatics (HHSI) master's program is the first of its kind in Finland and aims to produce professionals, developers and researchers in informatics and information management for the needs of health and social care services. From its outset, the program has been based on the Recommendations on Education in Biomedical and Health Informatics by the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). The program has been accredited twice in 2012 and 2018 by the IMIA Accreditation Committee. This talk with focus on the curricula development based on the recommendations and experiences of the accreditation processes.
*Professor in Health and Human Services Informatics, University of Eastern Finland, Department of Health and Social Management
      3. Tom Broens*: Using act-E at the Amsterdam UMC: a curriculum information system for unraveling education
Abstract: Constructive alignment is an important factor for a high quality curriculum. Reaching a high-level of alignment requires sufficient insights in the details of the curriculum and the multi-dimensional connections of the element within. This is a hard job without the right ICT support. In this session we show how we use act-E, our curriculum information system, to help aligning the medicine and medical informatics curricula
*Head of Teaching & Learning Centre –Academic Medical Center Amsterdam, (AMC)

Workshop: „Acceptance and curricular effects of learning objectives catalogs from an international perspective“

    Introduction

Catalogs of operationalized, competency-based learning objectives were introduced and promoted as a prerequisite for high-quality, systematic curriculum development [1]. Since the introduction of the National Competence-Based Catalog of Learning Objectives in Medicine (NKLM), medical study programs in Germany have been following this approach with increasing commitment. Regarding the speciality areas of the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) there are also national and international activities promoting learning objectives catalogs. A prominent international example are the IMIA recommendations on Education in Biomedical and Health Informatics [2]; activities within GMDS are presented centrally on the society's website [3] - the contributing GDMS workgroups were also involved in the preparation of this workshop

While learning objectives-based curriculum development - and the associated constructive alignment of learning opportunities - is used effectively in medicine, similar use of learning objectives catalogs is rather in its infancy in medical statistics, biometrics, medical informatics, health information management, and biomedicine - at least on a national scale.

Furthermore, superficial use of learning objectives catalogs as bureaucratic checklists may undermine their support for learner-centered teaching - and triggered corresponding debates in the past [4]. Therefore, there is a need to support the use of learning objectives catalogs in the planning and implementation of teaching modules.

The aim of the workshop is to promote the adequate use of learning objectives catalogs in the implementation or revision of study programs against the background of international experiences and debate.

     Methods

To this end, the presentation of international best practices (invited keynotes), a brief description of the status quo at German locations, and the elaboration of perspectives and concrete measures to promote learning objectives-oriented curriculum development in GMDS subjects will serve as a basis. The workshop will be conducted in an online-only format to allow for the broadest possible participation. The goal is to ensure effective and responsive collaboration. Therefore, synchronous sessions will be framed by an asynchronous pre- and post-workshop phase on a collaboration platform.

     Intended results

As a result of the workshop, a compact guide will be published that summarizes information on how to use the learning objectives catalogs as well as strategic and didactic recommendations for implementing learning objectives-oriented curriculum development in all GMDS subjects.
